RDG Distillery mural

Getting the band back together again! We, along with our buds Deric Hettinger, Schon Wanner, and Anthony Mark, got together to paint this mural at our new hometown distillery. Deric came up with the concept, and T-Bone rummaged through over 100 years of newspaper ads to find snippets, cut apart, and re-mix what 503 Penn St housed through the years. We got the pencil done in an evening, and completely painted the next evening. Thanks to the Flowers fam and RDG Distillery.

Nitro Bar Mural #2 - stair landing wall

Part 2 of a series of murals we designed and painted for Nitro Bar in West Reading, PA.
This is on the landing wall between the first and second floors leading up to the bar. We started with the concept of a skeletal rider (See below)

While the concept was well received, we were asked to explore the option of a woman with long dark hair blowing in the wind to evoke a feeling of freedom on the open road.

How it started:

A little process vid, showing the progression through the each end of the evening:

With Fallon Vendetta, who modeled for us for the mural

As it sits today, Nitro Bar was renamed WRMC Bar after change of ownership

New Mural Series : Nitro Bar

Part one: (The Reading Standard wall)

We set out to make a heavily distressed wall that looked like the inside of a vintage garage.

The wall started as this, a solid cinder block wall that housed the new stairwell. A real brick facade was built on top of the wall that was sprayed with a matte black acrylic.

First test of the vintage Reading Standard logo in chalk. We erased this and made it larger to imply that it was "found".

After we finished the logo we began to scratch, hit, slam, kick, and bite our way through what we had just finished painting

At the end of day one,  without much progress using hammers, chisels, and sandpaper, we decided to use a heavy duty paint thinner and angle grinders to finish off the look. Smooth sailing from here...

...the end of day five.

Here's a pic of the crew in front of the finished wall.

Hydra Artist Studios - stage mural

You may remember us mentioning to you folks our brother, a few of our friends and we, started an artist community in our hometown of Reading PA called Hydra Artist Studios. Proud to say that our numbers have more than quadrupled since then, and still growing.

Back in March 2018, T-Bone and Aljax, as well as a little help from Anthony Mark and Nikola Eyck, spent 10 long nights painting this massive 12.5' x 20' mural on the back stage wall (the gold pocket doors lead to the band green room, and are the same doors given to us by our friends at Saturday Night Live, used for the Paul Rudd hosted skit, 'What's that Name?')

In our typical screen print fashion (I mean... c'mon) we only used 4 colors for the entire thing. All Hail Hydra!!

The SNL skit, leave the searching to us..
